Matt White is an artist and lecturer. In his practice, he devises working processes that explore how personal and moral conflicts are sited within a wider socio-political landscape. White is currently a senior lecturer in Photographic Art at the University of Wales, Newport and co-founder of the Bristol based discussion group, Format.
White’s work has been shown in gallery based group and solo exhibitions as well as screenings at EFA Project Space, New York, SMART Project Space, Amsterdam, Spike Island and Unit 2 Gallery, London. Past awards have included an Arts Council Research and Development Award, the Rootstein Hopkins Award and a Stanley Picker Fellowship. He has also been artist in residence at Apartment Project, Istanbul; Heathrow Airport, London and The Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool.
