Theo Cuff (b. 1984) lives and works in Bristol and has been a studio holder since 2008. He studied at UWE and earned an MA in Fine Art in 2009.
Cuff’s paintings are worked through a process of reiteration. Found or personal photographs form an index from which colour and tone are distilled and reapplied, leaving concealment or recognition to determine a finished painting.
Group exhibitions include: The John Moores Painting Prize 26, the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool (2010), Fade Away at Transition Gallery, London and Gallery North, Newcastle (2011) and Exeter Contemporary Open at Phoenix Gallery (2011). His work has also been included in the book About Painting, published by Transition Editions (2011).
