Every year, Spike Island opens its doors for thousands of visitors to explore the working environments of artists, designers and creative businesses. This year, Open Studios is taking place online so you can enjoy it from wherever you are in the world.
Go behind the scenes of artists’ studios, meet creative practitioners and learn about their processes and ideas, and tune in to a diverse programme of events, films, performances, radio broadcasts and more.
On Saturday 29 May, take part in a programme of online events, screenings and talks, organised in collaboration with our studio artist community.
While most of the activity is happening online, we're also bringing Open Studios to the streets of Bristol through an artists' poster trail. Until 30 May, use the map to seek out a selection of our studio artists and their work presented across the city. If you spot the posters on your travels, take a photograph and share it with us using #SpikeIslandOpenStudiosUse the map
Get a unique insight into the environments and ideas surrounding studio artists at Spike Island in this series of short creative videos, available to view on demand via our website until 31 May 2021.
Broadcasting live on Spike Island’s YouTube channel on Sunday 30 May is Spike Island FM, a day of audio interventions and creations produced by the Spike Island community, including: Spike Island Associates, Studio Artists, Spike Print Studio members, Staff and UWE Bristol Fine Art students. Subscribe to our channel for reminders when we go live.
