Spike Island recently hosted the Syllabus VI participants for a generative, inspiring and fun weekend, their first meeting together in-person since their inaugural retreat at Wysing Arts Centre in September 2020.
Over the weekend the Syllabus group participated in crit sessions with curators Zoe Li and Nella Aarne; a social pizza date with Spike Island Associates; a session on moving image curating, programming and commissioning film with curator and scholar Kim Knowles; a listening workshop with artist Claudia Molitor; and finally a social (and socially-distanced) dinner and drinks.
The ten selected Syllabus VI participants are James Clarkson, Lauren Craig, Ufuoma Essi, Bettina Furnée, Olga Grotova, Helen Hamilton, Elsa James, Freya Johnson Ross, Daniel Trivedy and Sam Williams. The Syllabus VI programme continues overn the coming months as the group visit Eastside Projects, Birmingham; Iniva and Studio Voltaire (both London).
