Artist Development

Artist Development is an important part of our programme. We are dedicated to supporting artists to develop their careers, investing in their practices and providing a springboard for their creativity.

We aim to support artists from a range of backgrounds and at different stages in their careers by increasing development and production opportunities. We also partner with other organisations on research projects related to contemporary art.

Open Call: Engagement Fellowship for South West-based Curators and Art Educators 2026–27

Spike Island and Hauser & Wirth Somerset are pleased to invite applications from independent curators and art educators based in the South West of England, to develop and deliver a programme of events as part of Spike Island’s Engagement programme.

Exploring the acts of drawing and writing in relation to time and three-dimensional space, Tamarin Norwood was in residence in 2016.
