Facsimile zine reprint

Personal notebooks, diaries, scrapbooks, statements, press clippings, photographic documents, illustrations, business cards, and zines—all these formats, also known as ephemera, are an integral part of Beverly Buchanan’s body of work. Revealing her laconic humor, the zines reissued for this exhibition serve as practical guides for identifying what sets the artist apart from her peers, or explain how to survive an art gallery visit while staying "cool." Reprinted with the aim of circulating Beverly Buchanan’s work in a simple, accessible way, these pocket-sized guidebooks are essential for discovering how she readily transgressed the usual categories distinguishing different types of artworks.
