Information

This installation by Charlie Cousins in Spike Island Test Space was partly inspired by W. G. Sebald’s Rings of Saturn. Consisting of projection, sculpture and manipulated found imagery, it was an investigation into the narrative possibilities stemming from the re-appropriation of old photographs.

By employing a range of techniques such as layering images, hiding and mirroring them, the work explores the elusive, fragmentary and sometimes fictional nature of memory.

Test Space

Test Space is programmed by studio holders based at Spike Island and offers artists a chance to exhibit new works and test ideas. Artists from within the Spike Island community and beyond are included.
