Join us for a special fundraiser celebrating 50 years of Spike Island.
Featuring: KEM KEM (Olukemi Lijadu) • Sarahsson • Mary Hurrell • Tohé Commaret and Ariane Kiks • Casa Delirium • Al Cameron • live performance art guest-produced by Perpetually Stew • with more to be announced
This September, our building comes alive for a one-night celebration of five decades of artist-led creativity, experimentation and community. Explore exhibitions after hours, encounter an ambitious programme of live art, performance and music throughout the building, then dance late into the night with DJs from the Spike Island community and beyond.
Whether you’ve been part of Spike Island for decades or are visiting for the first time, this milestone celebration brings together artists, audiences and supporters to celebrate the people, ideas and creative energy that continue to shape Spike Island today.
PROGRAMME
5–9pm
Across the building, discover a programme of live art and performance featuring Sarahsson, Mary Hurrell, Tohé Commaret and Ariane Kiks, alongside a guest-produced live art programme by Perpetually Stew.
Food and drink will be available throughout the evening. Spike Island’s Sculpture Yard will be transformed into a bar by local craft brewery Left Handed Giant, with wine supplied by Limeburn Hill Vineyard, and soft drink options from YEW Drinks. Food comes courtesy of Bristol’s Anita Cheung – Owner and Head Chef of street food legends Ah-Ma’s Dumplings and acclaimed dim sum restaurant CLOUDS – with a sit-down meal served in Emmeline Café from 5–8pm and handmade dumplings and bao buns available to pick up and take away late into the night.
9pm–late
As the sun goes down, the gallery becomes a dancefloor with DJ sets from former exhibiting artist KEM KEM (Olukemi Lijadu), Casa Delirium, Al Cameron and Spike Island Studio artists Alexis Over-Papatzaneteas and Jo Lathwood.
Further programme announcements will be made soon.
