Book your free place for the evening preview of Open Studios 2023. Taking place the night before the Open Studios 2023 weekend on Saturday 29–Sunday 30 April, this evening is an early chance for you to view the artists’ studios, Spike Print Studio, UWE Bristol Fine Art, as well as many other creative practitioners including designers, filmmakers, architects, animators and photographers.

You’ll also be able to see one-time special events and performances from our community and explore our gallery at night.

What's on

  • 6-9pm ECO|CON is a co-curated project exploring how art can draw attention to the precarious dimensions of human and more-than-human encounters. 
  • 6-9pm A glimpse of the long-term creative exchange between artists Kamina Walton and Carol Laidler, exploring the experience of their own bodies and the politics of representation. 
  • 6-9pm See work created by current students from across UWE Fine Art programmes.
  • 6–9pm Listen to a curated playlist by UWE alumna Deirdre Canavan, commissioned by SCRR-B and presented by Street Corner Reading Rooms, Bristol.
  • 6.30–7.10pm Live poster edition printing workshop using tidal mud from the Avon Cut with artists Bryony Gillard and Conway and Young.
  • 6.30–7pm A live audio-visual performance comprising generative soundscapes and experimental electronic drums, performed by Soft Edge, aka George Pettengell.
  • 7–7.30pm Watch artists Oscar Burns and Molly Mogul combine live music, electronic soundscapes and expressive dance.
  • 7.30–8.15pm Witness a musical procession throughout the building with lead artist Kit Poulson and UWE Bristol Fine Art students.
  • 8.15-8.45pm A stand-up performance of 'The Fight' in UWE Fine Art studios by Catherine White.
