Join artist Victoria Willmott to craft your own colourful travel diary inspired by Spike Island’s exhibition, Ways of Attaching, by Rosemary Mayer. Gather papers to make up the pages of your diary, ready to assemble into a book using a simple string binding technique. Use colourful fabrics, wool, stamps and assorted collage materials to decorate the front and back of your book, ready to take on your next adventure – starting here at Spike Island!
Please note, this session is recommended for children aged 5-12 years old.
This event will take place in two timeslots: 11am-12pm and 12.15-1.15pm.
All materials will be provided, but feel free to bring any specific materials that you may want to use.
VICTORIA WILMOTT
Victoria Willmott is a printmaker and artist educator with a BA in Illustration from Camberwell College of Arts and an MA in Multi-disciplinary Printmaking from the University of the West of England. Wilmott creates her illustrations from initial observational sketches of people, nature and buildings in cities she visits. Her drawings from life are then translated onto lino to create stamps that suggest narratives and mapping through playful compositions.
I AM MAKING ART
These regular activity sessions are led by artists. Visitors of all ages and abilities can try out new techniques and approaches to making art, from drawing and painting to collage, sculpture and animation.
