Join artist Cliff Andrade to explore materiality and texture using techniques inspired by Tanoa Sasraku’s exhibition, Terratypes.
In this workshop, we will play with drawing, mark making, rubbing, sticking, ripping and stacking, using both conventional art materials and found objects. It will be an open-ended process, encouraging experimentation and chance-based outcomes, inspired by our everyday surroundings and memories.
This event is taking place in-person in the Spike Island Associates Space. Please book a timeslot (either 11am or 12.15pm).
These regular activity sessions are led by artists. Visitors of all ages and abilities can try out new techniques and approaches to making art, from drawing and painting to collage, sculpture and animation.
Spike Island studio holder Cliff Andrade works with a diverse range of media, from drawing and printmaking to photography, film and installation. While his work is deeply rooted in personal experiences, it also engages with broader concerns such as the desire for belonging and the connection to place.
