JACKSON AND HARRIS
Artists Valda Jackson MBE and Rodney Harris collaborate on sculpture projects as the collaborative duo Jackson and Harris. They have been commissioned by a range of public and private clients across the UK, including Peabody, Cambridge Investment Partnership, Bristol City Council and the RSPCA. In 2017, they were awarded the Marsh Award for Excellence in Public Sculpture, by Marsh Christian Trust in partnership with the Public Statues and Sculpture Association (PSSA).
Valda Jackson MBE is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist and writer based at Spike Island. She works primarily in the mediums of painting and sculpture, drawing and printmaking. Her work explores the psychology of migration, identity, and loss. She makes work about our human existence and survival – themes which extend themselves into her public art commissions.
Rodney Harris is an artist and printmaker based at Spike Island whose work responds to environmental, site specific and social issues. He has worked on commissions for a wide range of public and private organisations and individuals internationally. Harris also works within education, often exploring how different clay/sculptural/creative/print techniques can be adapted for specific outcomes.
