Join us to celebrate the launch of Spike Island’s 2023 Digital Commission: Are You Coming To Church?,
an interactive web-based game created by Ama Dogbe.

Attendees are invited to play the game with the artist whilst opening up questions for discussion. Dogbe will be joined by contributing sound artists Louis Jack and Ratiba Ayadi for special experimental sound performances.

AMA DOGBE

Ama Dogbe is a British-Ghanaian artist whose work engages with a range of personal and societal themes through digital mediums including video games, digital animations and audio-visual installations. She uses self-taught and collaborative techniques to arrive at experimental and unconventional outcomes.

Dogbe has been commissioned by Modern Painters, Loughborough (2023,) tiata fahodzi, Watford (2022), selected as digital artist in residence with Chisenhale Into The Wild, London (2023), and was a resident artist at BOM, Birmingham (2022). She has exhibited at Fermynwoods Contemporary Art (2022), East Bristol Contemporary (2022) and Attenborough Arts Centre, Leicester (2021).

LOUIS JACK

Louis Jack is an alternative hip-hop artist, producer, and rapper who’s unflinchingly honest and baritone-delivered lyrics are at the forefront of his textured and evocative self-production.

RATIBA AYADI

Ratiba Ayadi is a composer, producer, sound and performance artist. She layer’s fragmented vocalisations over sonic landscapes and explores the possibility of curating invisible structures. She performs and records as an alias, Silent Songstress – an entity that can move through and between studies of self, through vocal and physical inquiry.
