Lola Bennett is a multidisciplinary artist working primarily in textiles and ceramics. Bennett graduated with a degree in Creative Arts Practice from Bath Spa University in 2023.
Bennett builds large scale installations to evoke ideas that challenge perceptions of ‘female artwork’, exploring hierarchies in art, craft and female labour. Bennett uses traditional female crafts, such as sewing and needlepoint, as a healing process from the conservative patriarchal communities she grew up in, in America. Bennett deconstructs these misogynistic teachings and experiences her and many other women share in, over labour-intensive artworks, exploring and combining ceramics and textiles.
