Save the date: Spike Island’s Big Give Christmas Challenge – 1 to 8 December 2026
This December, Spike Island is thrilled to be taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge.
For one week only, every pound donated to Spike Island will be doubled, helping us reach our target of £10,000 to launch Make & Learn, a vital new learning programme designed to transform access to the arts for school children and young people in South Bristol.
We’re inviting our community and supporters to help make Make & Learn a reality.
SPARK CURIOSITY, ENCOURAGE IMAGINATION
Support us to help more young people see themselves as artists

Spike Island is a place where art is made and enjoyed, bringing together artists across generations and disciplines.
We know that cuts to arts education and public funding, alongside rising living costs, mean many children and young people have fewer opportunities to explore their creativity. These barriers can be even greater for those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and those growing up in underserved communities.
That’s why we’re fundraising to launch Make & Learn.
We want to open up more creative possibilities to children and young people who face barriers to engaging with the arts through hands-on making, play and experimentation:
- Free, year-round creative activities for children and young people in Bristol.
- Reaching over 100 children and young people.
- More opportunities to access the arts in communities where creative opportunities are limited.
- Space to follow their curiosity, express themselves and build confidence as artists.
HELP US REACH OUR £10,000 TARGET
The Big Give campaign offers an opportunity to make your support go further and help us do something extraordinary.
Every donation made between 1–8 December, no matter the size, will be doubled!
Your £25 donation becomes £50
£50 becomes £100
£250 becomes £500
Your support will contribute to the practical costs of running the programme, from artist fees and art materials to school resources, teacher training and travel expenses. It will help us offer activities free of charge, reaching young people who might otherwise miss out.
