Spike Island is set to open a new on-site temporary events space next month until February 2025.
Located on the 80,000 sqft building’s first floor in Unit 63, the space will be available to hire for groups of up to 60 throughout December 2024 and January 2025.
As part of the room hire fee, bookers can also request curated events and catering packages for guests to enjoy, inspired by Spike Island’s creative community. Packages include private curator-led tours of exhibitions from Spike Island’s acclaimed programme, and hands-on workshops led by Spike Island Studio artists and Spike Print Studio.
Catering is provided by the award-winning Emmeline café run by Team Love‘s Shona Graham whose focus on nutritious, wholesome, and socially conscious food and drinks has made them a Bristol favourite.
In addition to providing a unique venue and offering for people in Bristol, Spike Island’s operations manager, Jo Kimber, also hopes that the new space will have a positive impact on hospitality businesses in the area.
“Spike Island has a great selection of bars and pubs, but some of these places have really suffered from reduced foot traffic since the Vauxhall Bridge closure and the closure of the Gaol Ferry bridge before that. We’re interested in finding ways to support businesses in our neighbourhood—hopefully, Unit 63 will bring in a new crowd who are interested in exploring them during the festive season”.
