Spike Island appoints new Deputy Director

Spike Island is pleased to announce the appointment of Aidan Woodburn as Deputy Director. He will take up the position in May 2019.

Aidan Woodburn has worked at Bristol Old Vic since 2009, progressing from his initial role in the Box Office department through the management structure to become Operations Manager, Head of Operations and finally General Manager. He was the main staff lead on the Bristol Old Vic construction works for the £12m ‘Anniversary Works’ redevelopment project (2016-2018), for which he led a large operational staff team of a vibrant, multi-strand producing theatre.

“I am delighted to be joining Spike Island in May. I look forward to getting to know the team, as well as the many people who support, work and engage with the organisation in a variety of ways. As Deputy Director, I’ll be working closely with the Director to develop and deliver an exciting next chapter for Spike Island, building upon its recent successes, and furthering its ambitions on a local, national and international level.” – Aidan Woodburn

“I am confident that Aidan will bring considerable passion and expertise to his new role. He strikes me as exactly the right person to engage constructively and enthusiastically with the demands of the organisation, and I can’t wait to start working with him to push Spike Island forward in the years ahead. The whole Spike Island team and I also wish to thank Mark Osterfield, Interim Executive Director, for his fantastic leadership and support over the past year.” – Robert Leckie, Director
