Working through an embodied, site-responsive practice, Helen draws out entangled relationships between land and body, where somatic memory and personal mythology converge. Grounded in lived experience and shaped through collaboration with materials from an ex-mining valley in South Wales, her work traces experiences held within the body, and the enduring impact of culture and time on individuals, communities and land.

Helen is particularly interested in collaborative research approaches between the arts, health and wellbeing. Through her work with the University of Bristol and Nordic Summer University (Finland), she contributes to a growing understanding of how creative expression of lived experience can generate new forms of knowledge. You can read more about her research and work in a paper published Oct. ‘25 here.

In 2025 Helen set up Mother Matters, an online space for bereaved mother-artists to share experiences, creative languages and research. She is currently creating a programme of public workshops and exhibition at Arnolfini in Spring 2027.

Helen has exhibited in South Wales (solo) and group exhibitions in the UK, Denmark and Finland and awarded support from Arts Council England (2022) and The Brigstow Institute (2023). She has presented her work and research at universities, arts organisations and institutions, most recently at Mac Birmingham (Hayward touring exhibition 2024); University of the Arts, Denmark (2025) and Helsinki (2024); Unesco-Bridges Hub, University of Swansea (2022).
