On the occasion of Olukemi Lijadu’s exhibition at Spike Island, Feedback, Lijadu will perform a newly commissioned live music score to her film Feedback. Unfolding behind a sheer screen, the performance draws on the tradition of expanded cinema to collapse the virtual realm of the film into the physical space of the galleries.

As a DJ who works in the realms of moving image and sound, her performances take listeners on a journey between culture and time, weaving together music, film and performance.

Olukemi Lijadu’s performance, Feedback, is in partnership with Bristol New Music.

OLUKEMI LIJADU
Olukemi Lijadu is a multi-disciplinary artist and DJ, with a focus on moving image and sound. She recently was a recipient of London’s ICA Image Behaviour grant where she was commissioned to create and debut her most recent film-performance Guardian Angel.

In 2018, she graduated from Stanford as a masters student in Philosophy where she focused on African philosophical systems. Her academic background grounds her research-based approach to her artistic practice. Her work explores questions around music of the diaspora, heritage and the complexity of feeling.
