Jo Ball is an artist working in drawing, sculpture, installation and writing. From her (often very messy) studio she makes colourful things from paper, plaster and string that suggest bodily organs and knotty systems of thought.Through making she thinks through ideas of embodied knowledge, subjective experience of time, and emotional responses to colour and form. Repeating motifs and materials include knot-like structures, nets and thread.
Recent exhibitions & commissions: A Gathering, APT Gallery London (2024); Many Leaves Turn (solo), StudioKind, Devon (2024); Points of Attachment, The Verge, Glasgow (2022) and ‘One thousand flowers’ at Mangotsfield Folly, Bristol (2022). She received an Arts Council England’s DYCP grant in 2021.
