Joshua Johnson

Joshua Johnson born in Leeds, 1991 and currently lives and works in Bristol. He graduated from the UWE Art and Visual Culture programme in 2013. His work focuses on the deceptively real physicality of the model and its reality as a suggestion of an, at present, unrealised idea. Drawing on the legacy of the social utopian architecture of modernism and wider social, political and architectural history, Johnson scrutinises the viewer’s often misplaced trust in the model and the apparent failures that occur during its transmutation into the conclusion.

Recent Exhibitions include Test Space Open, Spike Island Test Space (2014), Ex, Blip Blip Blip, Leeds and THEY WILL LONG OUTLAST OUR OBLIVION; AND NEVER KNOW THE WE ARE GONE, zshed, Bristol (both 2013) and Interim, Blip Blip Blip, Leeds 2012. Joshua Johnson was the 2013/2014 UWE Spike Island Studio Fellow.
