Kamina Walton

Kamina Walton works mainly with photography and installation. A crucial element of her practice involves collaboration and conversation with others. The work she has produced and exhibited over the years has grown from these collaborations, exploring a range of challenging issues as well as a sense of community. She gained a BA (Hons) in Film, Video and Photographic Arts at the Polytechnic of Central London in the early 1980s, and an MA in Design & Media Arts at the University of Westminster in the mid-1990s. She has been a studio holder at Spike Island since 2008.

In September 2015 Kamina founded Rising Arts Agency, a Bristol-based micro social enterprise supporting 16-25 year olds who aspire to a career in the arts through professional mentoring, leadership training, commissioning opportunities, and platforms to showcase work. Rising’s mission is to champion diverse participation, staffing and leadership across Bristol’s creative sector.
