Studio holder Aikaterini Gegisian works largely with film, video and archival material, and here she introduces Uriel Orlow’s exhibition with reference to her own practice.

Aikaterini Gegisian

Aikaterini Gegisian (1976) was born in Thessaloniki, Greece, studied Critical Fine Art Practice at the University of Brighton (2001) and a received an MFA by Chelsea College of Art & Design in 2005. She lives and works in Bristol and has been a Spike Island studio holder since 2007. 

Gegisian's current work in video and photography is concerned with the structure of the archive, the conditions of image making and the formal tradition of montage and collage. Recent solo exhibitions include Who Doesn’t Like a Good Old Story? at Kalfayan Gallery, Athens (2012), Pentalogy at Omikron Gallery, Nicosia (2011), Diego Garcia at Center of Contemporary Art, Thessaloniki and Picture This, Bristol (both 2011). She is represented by Kalfayan Galleries, Athens/Thessaloniki.
