Spike Island studio artist Hannah Murgatroyd leads an informal Saturday afternoon tour of Lucy Stein’s exhibition, Wet Room, focusing on technique, methodology and painterly influences.
Born in Bristol, Hannah Murgatroyd was raised on Dartmoor. She became a painter in 2009, long after attending the Royal College of Art and the Royal Drawing School, when on a residency at the Spinnerei in Leipzig. Recent exhibitions include a solo presentation, Bucolica with Von Goetz at Draw Art Fair, Saatchi Gallery (2019); Women Can’t Paint, Turps and ASC Gallery (2018); and Landscape as a Peopled World (solo exhibition), Exeter Phoenix (2017). She won the Exeter Contemporary Open in 2014, and in 2019 she instigated the Painters’ Network South West. She is currently a mentor for Turps Art School and featured in the Anomie Review of Contemporary British Painting, 2018.
