Judy Rodrigues was born in London and spent her childhood on the Isle of Wight. Her paintings, journals and studies draw from nature in both direct and metaphorical contexts, with research areas in the poetics of environment and diaspora. Exhibitions and residencies include: ‘Two Stories’, Olympus Gallery, Dimbola Lodge, Freshwater Bay, Isle of Wight and Circadian Gardens at RUH Bath, The Circle Hospital Bath and St Mary’s Hospital, Isle of Wight featuring work produced during a six-month Arts Council research residency at Ventnor Botanic Gardens, Isle of Wight (2014/15); Paim Bookhouse Gallery, Pico Island (2017). Rodrigues presented a talk and screening ‘Bloomsbury and the Isle of Wight’ at Ventnor Fringe Festival with screen writer Hugh Stoddart (2017).
Rodrigues participated in The Pedra Negra international writers/artists weekend (2018/19). She is collaborating with Portuguese poet Jose Efe on a bilingual book publication In Pico (design/publication by In-Libris, Porto), to be launched with MiratecArts at the Montanha Pico Festival, Azores in January 2019.
