Spike Island is recruiting for a Development Manager

Information

Information

Spike Island is a dynamic arts centre that supports, produces and presents contemporary art across an 80,000 square foot former industrial building near Bristol’s harbourside. We engage audiences in our work through a diverse programme of exhibitions and interdisciplinary events; and we directly support artists through major new commissions, subsidised studios and critically engaged artist development opportunities that widen access to our programme and facilities. We also offer bespoke exhibition services and are home to Emmeline café, workspaces for designers and creative businesses, and UWE Bristol’s Fine Arts programme.

THE ROLE

We are looking for an individual with creativity, experience and commitment to join our team as Development Manager and help us build new funding relationships for our artistic programme, core revenue and special projects. This is a new role at Spike Island.

The Development Manager will be responsible for all philanthropic fundraising and will make applications to trusts and foundations, build relationships with individuals and design partnerships with the corporate community.

We are seeking someone who has a passion for the arts, great research and organisational skills, and a proven track record of fundraising from various sources. You will manage our fundraising programme with flair, and your keen eye for detail and excellent writing and communication skills will ensure your success.

In one of our most visible roles, you will enjoy engaging with donors and sponsors at all levels. This is a great opportunity for you to make your mark and implement a new fundraising strategy for this internationally respected organisation.

The position is offered full-time (35hrs per week).
Salary: £30,000-£32,000 per annum, depending on experience.

The deadline to apply is 5pm on Friday 15 July 2022.

First interviews will be held on Monday 25 July 2022.
Second interviews will be held on Friday 29 July 2022.

Spike Island is committed to addressing inequality in the arts sector and ensuring equality of opportunity in recruitment and employment. We consider diversity a strength and are keen to make our workforce more representative of the different backgrounds and experiences that make up our city. We strongly encourage applications from people who identify as Global Majority, young, D/deaf or disabled, LGBTQI+, working class, or living or working in areas of socioeconomic deprivation in Bristol.

Spike Island will work with candidates to ensure their access needs are met during the interview process, while also ensuring that these needs will not influence our decision-making.
