I am Making Art

These monthly activity sessions are led by artists and take place in the Spike Island Café. Visitors of all ages and abilities can try out new techniques and approaches to making art, from drawing and painting to collage, sculpture and animation and are invited to drop in any time during the session.

Part of Bristol Family Arts Festival 2017, a month long citywide celebration of family creativity, with a packed programme of events for all ages.

Kelly O’Brien

Materials and place play important roles in Kelly O’Brien’s work. She works primarily with paper, attracted to its paradoxical qualities of ephemeral strength. Even when manipulated in seemingly destructive ways – scoring, burning, sewing into, tearing, repairing – what emerges is often more interesting and beautiful than the original form.
