I am Making ArtRotation
I am Making Art is a series of hands on activities for those who love making art or who enjoy trying something new. Led by artists, they are suitable for all ages and abilities.
Turntables, motors and spinning things of all kinds are the starting point for February's session as artist Rod Maclachlan demonstrates how to create kinetic mobiles and sculptures that come alive with sound and light. Bring along some bits to contribute to the constructions: torches, reflective objects, record players and clocks, bells, gongs or things that make sound.
Roderick Maclachlan
Roderick Maclachlan (1974) received an MA(Dist) in Fine Art from University College Falmouth in 2008. His combining of sculptural elements along with lighting or projection reflects his concerns with relationships between observation and imagination, the physical and the ethereal.
His installation works have featured at One-on-One Festival, Battersea Arts Centre (2011), Inbetween Time, Arnolfini (2010) and Small World Fair at Metal in Southend-on-Sea (2010). Recent collaborations include those with composer Roly Porter for Sonic Acts XIV, Amsterdam and Faster than Sound, Snape, Suffolk (2011) and with Harminder Judge on Do What Thou Wilt, Spill Festival, The Barbican (2011).
