The British Art Show 8, the most ambitious and influential exhibition of contemporary British art, announced their shortlist this week. Spike Island is delighted to see a number of recently exhibited and forthcoming artists included in the selection.
The British Art Show is organised by the Hayward Gallery as part of the Hayward Touring programme. Artists are chosen for their significant contribution over the past five years. Many have a strong international presence, reflecting the increasingly globalised networks operating in the art world.
Spike Island would like to congratulate all of the artists selected by curators Anna Colin and Lydia Yee for the British Art Show 8. We are particularly proud to currently, or have recently worked with, the following selected artists;
Martino Gamper, Ciara Phillips, Charlotte Prodger (forthcoming solo exhibition at Spike Island, October 2015), Laure Prouvost, James Richards, Cally Spooner, Patrick Staff (forthcoming solo exhibition at Spike Island, July 2015), Hayley Tompkins (Spike Island café design commission, 2007), Jessica Warboys, Stuart Whipps (forthcoming exhibition at Spike Island, 2016).
The British Art Show 8 opens at Leeds City Art Gallery, 9 October 2015 and tours to Edinburgh, Norwich and Southampton.
