Groups of artists, curators and producers are invited to submit proposals for an opportunity to establish a new project space for Bristol from July 2013. Members of the selection panel are looking for an ambitious vision to deliver an exciting contemporary visual art and/or design programme.
This project aims to reenergise independent artist-led activity in the city and to help artists explore the potential of the Bristol Temple Quarter regeneration zone, an area of the city centre currently undergoing redevelopment with the support of the creative industries. We will work with the successful group to find a suitable space within the Temple Quarter area.
The project will receive support from Spike Island staff alongside a budget of £1000 per month for six months. Funds will be held by Spike Island, and our team will work with the group to help them secure funding for the space to continue beyond this initial period.
To apply, please download the following information and application. The deadline for submitting a proposal is 9am on Wednesday 8 May, and interviews will be held at Spike Island on Wednesday 21 May.
This project is part of a series of Bristol Temple Quarter commissions, coordinated by Watershed, Knowle West Media Centre and MAYK, with support from Bristol City Council and Arts Council England. They will pop up, excite and re-invent perceptions and potentials.
